Speculation mounts high as IPFT supporters led by Tripura Minister join stir in Delhi for ‘Twipra land’

AGARTALA:

As was indicated earlier, over hundreds of workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s ally in Tripura, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) including the Minister N C debbarma and Mevar Kumar Jamatia on Monday joined stir at Delhi to reiterate their demand for ‘Twipra Land’ – Separate state.

Despite the BJP which in ally with the IPFT has formed government in Tripura setting aside the IPFT’s separate state demand, the IPFT team led by the Minister N C Debbarma and Mevar Kumar Jamatia has sat for a stir at Delhi today to reiterate their demand.

Earlier prior taking an oath as the minister of Tripura N C Debbarma indicated media that after the government is being formed, the IPFT not as a government body but also as a political wing shall reiterate their demand for separate state.

However, it is worthy to mention here that prior contesting the election this year where the 25 years rule Left was defeated, the BJP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IPFT in condition of upgradation of the socio-economic and cultural structure of the tribal people of this state.
