The condition of National Highway worsened at Dhalai district sadar while major portion of the road covered by water and mud. As a result the road became unfit for walk by common people. There are heaps of soils at different parts of the road.
It seems that the road has been converted into a land of cultivation. Common people have to visit market regularly as they have no option avoid it. The National Highway converts into a hilly river after a little shower of rain as the drains have been filled by soil.
Meanwhile the condition of Bipin Chandra Pal pukka bridge deteriorated seriously during last 4 to 5 months. The bridge may collapse at any time and may sink in Dhalai River if any loaded truck closes the bridge.
Sources said that the pukka bridge uses to tremble when any loaded truck crosses the bridge. Meanwhile Iron Bridge constructed at North East corner of the bridge which portion went in depth of Dhalai River.
In the meantime problem increased manifold as Iron Bridge joined with pukka bridge. Police picket set up at both ends of the bridge during last 4 to 5 months and vehicles of both the sides are crossing the bridge by maintaining discipline. The movement of vehicle suspends for long time after rain because approach road of adjacent to bridge becomes slippery after a shower of rain.
Meanwhile the repair and maintenance suspended due to lack of engineers although the previous government introduced separate department for the purpose. At the same time the vehicle owners expressed strong resentment as some accidents occurred at the joint of pukka and iron bridge. In spite of that NH Division in charge of repairing National Highway has no response.
Besides, condition of 1 no pukka bridge from National Highway to Dulubari became more serious. As a result common people are not taking risk to go to the market.
