Outstanding goal keeping display by Birendra Club Goal keeper Sashan Kumar Jamatia led his team to won the title in the ongoing Second division league football tournament organized by Tripura Football association. In the high voltage final match of the tournament at Swami Vivekananda stadium today Birendra club defeated Town club by 7-6 in the sudden death and thus lifted the title. Both the teams today played with equal power and strength but in the end it was Birendra Club came good over Town club and thus won the title.
Sashan Kumar Jamatia, Goal keeper of Birendra Club was the hero of the match as he displayed some outstanding glove works. Sashan saved three certain goals in the stipulated time of the match while saved two in tie breaker and one goal in sudden death and thus played a huge role behind this brilliant win. On the other hand it was another poor day in the office for Town club as some of their star players missed so many opportunities to score goals which gave them huge setback by losing the match. The match was a real exciting one today.
From the start of the match today Town started to play attacking football while on the other hand Birendra club played defensive football as this was the part of the planning of their coach Subodh Debbarma. On the other hand due to overnight rain the condition of the field was very much poor as both the teams failed to cop up with the situation. Several times ball got stuck at the stored water as in this situation both the teams failed to play their best. In the 24th minute of the match Banbir’s shot has been brilliantly saved by Town goal keeper.
8 minutes later Pritam Sarkar’s certain goal brilliantly saved by Sashan Kumar Jamatia and made his presence in the match. In the second half also in the 52nd minute another strong shot by Pritam Sarkar brilliantly saved by Sashan. After that both the teams tried to play attacking football but several times ball got stuck at several holes in the field which was really pathetic. Till the last minute of the match no more further goals have been scored by any of the teams and thus the match went towards the extra time and fortune started to favour Birendra.
In the 9th minute of the extra time Sani missed to score a goal and this extra time also remained goal. The match then headed towards tie breaker where each team scored three goals each. For Birendra, Banbir Koloi, Sanjit Debbarma and Sahadeb scored goals while for Town Debu Harijan, Ronaldo and Pritam scored goals. After that sudden death started where Shiba, Ajit, Suranjit and Sadhan scored for Birendra while Muyiah, Ajay and Pritam scored goals for Town and Rahul Harijan failed to score and this Birendra club won the match by 7(0)-6(0).
