SC Defers 10,323 plea

AGARTALA:

The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday postponed the hearing of much acclaimed 10,323 teacher’s case till October 24 next, which will however decide the fate of the teachers as the Apex Court had been re-approached by the state government after passing a judgement against them.

Notably, the petition was on Tuesday heard by the division bench comprising Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Ashok Bhushan and accordingly deferred for five weeks.

Meanwhile, the petition filed the incumbent state government is however challenging a verdict of the same court, which sustained the Judgement of Tripura High Court. The then Chief Justice of Tripura High Court Dipak Gupta (Elevated to SC) and Swapan Chandra Das (retired from service) passed a judgment on May, 2014, cancelling all the new recruits in relation to this case since December 2014 and directed the state government to form a uniform policy. Later on, while the petition was taken under concern of the apex court, the court pronounced the same tone as it was by the HC in the March, 2017.
