Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb met the Rubber Board of India Vice Chairman and Adv. S. Jayasooryan and Director, Research & Development, Spices Board of India A.B. Remashree ay Kerala, Kochi during his election campaign there and urged upon to enhance productions here in the state.
According to the press communiqué the Tripura Directorate of Information and Culture Affairs, the board has assured the Chief Minister of all possible assistance in this regard.
Chief Minister during the course of meeting has discussed various issues regarding improvement and progress of rubber sector in the state of Tripura.
The press communiqué stated, "Chief Minister has pitched for enhancement of level of domestic processing and value addition of natural rubber in Tripura. Mr. Deb also requested to RBI to restart subsidy by rubber board for raising rubber plantation."
He also requested to cover all the rubber growers or the farmers under Rubber Producing Societies from present 20 per cent to higher.
Meeting the Director of Spices Board of India Chief Minister to augment the spices production in the state and ensure export of spices from Tripura to other states and abroad in near future has requested to explore the possibility of introduction of new spices in Tripura after proper trial and research.
He also urged upon the spices board to find out feasibility of promoting private investment in Tripura for commercial production, processing and marketing of spices.
