The ‘Queen’ variety of pineapples – the pride of Tripura is all set to get a major fillip from Tripura to Gulf countries and other major cities of the country. The Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb earlier got through into it, and mulled to make it ready to export the variety which is praised by other states of the country recently.
Keeping the queen variety of pineapple in focus, a high level seminar on processing and marketing horticulture produce of Tripura is held at Agartala government run Pragna Bhawan auditorium on Friday morning. The state agriculture and tourism minister Pranajit Singha Roy has inaugurated the programme in presence of other officials.
Tripura Horticulture Corporation Limited (THCL) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the airline – Spicejet merchandise today for the export of the queen variety of pineapple to other major cities of the country.
Skilled professionals from the packaging industries and personnel of a Calcutta based company specialized in marketing and representatives of Airline Company who will carry the products to international markets and leading horticultural experts of the country attended the seminar to discuss all aspects of cultivation, marketing and export of this high breed of pineapples.
It may also be recalled that State Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, after assuming office, had announced that the new government is keen to boost employment in the State by encouraging tourism around sick tea gardens and boost income of farmers by exporting the exquisite variety of pineapple to Dubai and Hong Kong.
