Implementing the maximum part of the pay and revision committee, the Tripura left front government just in wake of the crucial 2018 assembly poll in the state has announced salary hike for its employees by 19.68 per cent as compared to 14.2 per cent in respect of central government. The decision of pay hike has come up here on Tuesday in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
While briefing the media today at the civil secretariat the state finance minister Bhanulal Saha said that the average increase for the Group A employees would be rested at Rs. 15, 000, Rs. 9, 500 for the Group B employees, Rs. 5, 500 for the Group C employees and Rs. 4000 for the Group D employees.
However, Saha said, “The new pay scales and pension would come to effect from April 4, 2017.” Adding to this he said that the increase in the pay of fixed-pay employees would be according to the principle announced for regular employees.
The press note of the cabinet decision of the pay hike said that the pensioners’ benefits would be effected by multiplying the basic pension or family pension by 2.25 and the minimum pension has been increased from Rs 3120.00 to Rs 7020.00 while maximum pension has been increased from existing Rs 38,500.00 to Rs 1,05,720.00.
It also said that said that the employees of state PSUs to be allowed with the revision of the pay structure on the basis of pay matrix in respect of the state government employees with effect from 1st of April 2017 including the Jute Mill keeping their financial capacities including future commitments of both long and short term in mind.
The government has also approved introduction of a total of three new allowances which includes – Disability allowance for physically and visually handicapped employees, child care allowance for physically challenged employees and for the employees having disabled children and training allowance for police/agriculture staff deputed to training institutes on full time.
Besides, Saha said that the government needs to spend a total of Rs. 1242.69 crores while implementing the fresh salary hike for the employees despite the budget for the current financial year rested at Rs. 600.00 crores.
