National Secretary of Indian National Congress also the royal scion of Manikya Dynasty Pradyot Kishore Manikya Devbarman is all set to move to the Supreme Court seeking drawn up of NRC (National Registrar of Citizens) in Tripura. Speaking to the newsman, he informed that by tomorrow a petition will be filed in the higher most judicial body of the country to weed out the illegally intruded residents from the state.
Pradyot who was just elevated to the post of national secretary of INC from the working secretary of TPCC also further added that there cannot be different rules for different states when it comes to citizenship. And the law should take its stand.
While asked about the Cut-off date he was pushing forward in his petition, he denied doing so. He rather said, “The exercise NRC which was taken off in Assam was completely prompted on the Constitution of India and no one could suggest the Supreme Court how to interpret the law. The decision should be pronounced by the judiciary not by someone else”.
On the other hand, a social organization named as “Rastriya Satkatha Samaj” (RSS) also filed a petition in the Supreme Court on October 15 last which was listed to be heard in the Supreme Court on November 26 next. Petitioner Chandan Dey president of the Organization informed, NRC could not be inflicted in the state partially hearing the demands and thoughts of the indigenous people.
Pitching depth to his voice he clarified, TPF has filed the petition which craved the execution of NRC relying on the merger agreement signed in 1951, but there are other aspects too.
The people who hailed in the state from areas like Chakla Roshanabad now in Bangladesh were the residents of Tripura, before inclusion to the republic of India they were the residents of this state which identifies them as the residents of Tripura.
He also gave example of Kaghrachari where “Chakma” and “Tripur” tribes are residing huge in numbers, now can they be declared as intruders? He questioned during the conversation. And pleaded for NRC based on Indira-Mujib accord held on 1971.
Meanwhile, Pradyot Kishore Manikya however denied the claim of RSS and said Chakla Roshanabad was a dominion ruled by British East India Company and the people mandated the incorporation of the region with neighboring Bangladesh.
