Erection work of power line tower in Agartala has on Monday come up as a life risk factor for the labours inducted with the work. The incident took place at Chandrapur Baldakhal bridge area today where some labours were seen working on the erection and wiring of tower for power line without taking up any kind of safety measures and taking up precautions.
This perhaps has come up after the state run Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) in wake of the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s visit to the Baldakhal area on Wednesday for the inauguration of newly constructed bridge has taken up the work of erecting power transmission line tower there.
The TSECL has handed over the work with an agency which inducted labours today for the same. Most interestingly the labours were seen working on the erection and wiring of the tower and that too without taking up any precautions like wearing halmets and safety belts. the TSECL officials along with others invloved with the work were also seen remained present while the labours were working today.
On being asked, contractor Amrit Gope said, “We actually do not take precaution during the erection work of a tower but we do it actually during the wiring work.”
However, the incident has triggered a serious question over the working procedures of the TSECL as they still keep trust and close-aid with such private agencies which fails to keep any precaution during such life risk work.
