National De-Worming Day observed across the state


Along with the rest of the nation Tripura on Thursday is also celebrated national de-worming day.  As a part of the day, a total of 11, 13, 062 children would be administered with the de-worming tablets in school and Anganwadi centers.

Since morning itself the de-worming program has began across the state.

It is to be mentioned here that a total 4,861 government and non-government schools and 9, 911 Anganwadi centres across the state would be administered with de-worming tablets (Albendazole).

The de-worming tablets is being administered to the registered children age group between1 to 5 in all the Ananwadi centre whereas the age group between 6 to 19 children is administered in all the government and non-government schools.

Deworming helps in improving children’ health, nutrition level and learning abilities, reduces absenteeism in schools and enhances the health of children later in life. Deworming benefits in improving the physical and cognitive development of children.

In this drive, the children will be administered the chewable deworming tablet, Albendazole 400 mg tablet, which is an effective solution to control worm infections. Deworming may have very few side effects on children, such as nausea, mild abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and fatigue in some cases.
