Mukhil’s stunning goal in vain as Town Club enters to final

After a gap of one year Town Club has been qualified to play in the First division football tournament. They achieved the feat today when Town Club defeated Ramkrishna Club by 3-2 in a nail biting encounter in the super knock out stage of the ongoing Second division league football tournament organized by Tripura Football association. With this win Town club also made their way to the final where they will face Birendra Club on September 3.

On the other hand Ramkrishna club tried their best in the match as a stunning world class goal by Mukhil Reang went in vain as in the end they lost the match in the extra time. The stipulated time ended with the score line of 2-2 as in the second half of the extra time Lal Aeng Muiyah Darlong scored the winning goal and thus Town made their way to the final. Also in the match Ramkrishna management questioned about the poor decision made by the referee.

In the 5th minute of the match Town club got a penalty when Sani Harijan has been found by opposition defence player and referee signaled it as penalty in favour of Town club. From spot kick Debu Harijan scored the opening goal for Town. In the 27th minute of the match Tarun Debbarma scored the equalizer for Ramkrishna from a brilliant free kick. From that point the match was real excited as the first half of the match ended up with the score line of 1-1.

At the start of second half the controversy started when Town’s Pritam Sarkar entered at the opposition where Tarun Debbarma tried to clear the ball and Pritam fell down. Referee signaled it as penalty and from spot kick Debu Harijan scored the second goal. Just before the end from 35 yards Mukhil scored the equalizer for Ramkrishna as the stipulated time ended with 2-2. Then the match headed towards sudden death where in the second half Muiyah Darlong scored the winning goal for Town by a superb header. Town won by 3-2.
