Malaria check in Kanchanpur, health deteriorated

AGARTALA:

The rapid attack of Malaria in Kanchanpur sub-division all through the valley and hilly counterparts has largely bothered the health infrastructure of the subdivision which was already facing constraints of physicians.

Almost all the high up pockets having PHCs—Dasda, Laljuri, and Anandabazar have recorded huge admission of patients including large queues in front of the hospitals.

The hardest situation prevailed in the remote areas where the awareness regarding this deadly disease yet not exactly reached. A large number of people are still found dependent on shamanic techniques to prevent the disease. And a bunch of opportunists were summed up there to trick the innocents.

On the other hand, the health officials who are negligible in number before such a colossal disaster, are already muddled up giving day and night services. Medical teams are being sent in almost all the infested areas to generate more and more screenings.

The TSR 13th Battallion has also teamed up with the health department to create more and more attempts. The Battalion has already conducted a camp at East Bhandarima. Dr. Jackson Reang and Dr. Arpan Chakma who remained present in the camp informed altogether 174 patients were treated there along with relevant medications.

In the meantime Sub-divisional magistrate Abhedananda Baidya convened a meeting with the health officials scheduled to take place tomorrow where ADM North District will also take part. The commandant of the 13th Battalion TSR Sanjay Roy was also invited to partake in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the state administration is also very much concerned about the problem. State Programme Officer of Malaria control project, Kajal Dasgupta is going to visit the area soon. Sources in the Health Department also informed that every winter Malaria appears as a catastrophe. The usual initiatives like pest sensitive mosquito-nets are being distributed, health camps are being conducted, awareness sessions and routine visits are also going in the equal pace. But, if people not try to opt for the dos and don’ts, it will not let bring peace in the battle against Malaria, concluded the official.
