Stressing on the significance of knowledge and the role of Library as a service provider in this arena, Governor Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki today asserted that ‘libraries are the defenders of culture’.
“A country obtains its eternity through its literature— the literary pieces, thesis, research papers and many more records that are preserved in libraries and so on the generations remembers their ancestors in a intellectual way” said Prof. Solanki while addressing at Tripura University during the inaugural session of INFLIBNET sponsored PLANNER 2018— first time organized at here in Tripura.
Speaking on the new age of transforming education, he said, the libraries should not be confined to a limited space as mere ware-houses of books but it needs to be exposed in the societal exuberance. Keeping with the pace, it needs to reached to the last man in the queue and support him significantly, he added.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Tripura University Prof. VL Dharurkar also extended his views on the implications of library in social life. Later on, Prof Inder Vir Malhan, Dean, Central University of Himachal Pradesh in his speech dwelt on the fast changing learning methods, ever increasing data bases and information storage with the emergence of internet and mobile technologies.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Director of INFLIBNET Dr Jagdish Arora- who gave details of the INFLIBNET activities in promoting libraries across the country, Prof Narendra Lahaska, Convention Director, Registrar of Tripura University Sanit Debroy.
