Life is more dangerous after death at Fatikrai

KUMARGHAT /Fatikroy:

Life is not at all hassle free for the inhabitants of Fatikrai, even after death following terrible struggle to perform the last rites of the deceased. The hurdle is not limited in one particular way but in all which pushes every religious belief to an invading touch.

Beginning with the crematorium; it is the solitary land allotted to the Hindu community inhabitants of as much as 8 adjoining villages including Fatikrai, Rajnagar, Tarapur, Laldahar etc. where people could at least pay the last adieu to their dear ones leaving them forever.

But, the unfortunate geographical base in the banks of Manu River, eventually persisting the institution to disruption. Moreover, raging downpours somehow left potholes on the roofing where the plasters of the crematoria are also ragged into excreted debris. The altar where the deceased were placed to offer the last rites administered by priests is also need a pushback of three to four people for erection.

However, the graveyard which is also considered a last way-out according to Islamic ideology, is also not at all in the mood as it ought to be. Almost 90% of the graveyard has been captured by the giant Manu River flowing along the land plot allotted to.

The land which was preserved for such a unique ritual since last 150 years is yet to seek attention of the political leaders or the desired administration which adversely fueling negative thoughts among the minority people living over here.

And lastly, the Morgue; the only place which is assigned to settle the unnatural deaths is also going through an akin phenomenon. The building which was built on 1951 along with the establishment of the Fatikrai PHC is all the way in the edge of being collapse. Nevertheless, it is also to mentioned, death has become a larger than life annoy for the people of Fatikarai.
