Tripura is all set to get its very own branch of Lalit Kala Academy, India’s premier academy for fine arts, advisor to the Lalit Kala Academy DS Yadav confirmed today.
Speaking on the sidelines of an Art and Sculpture exhibition exhibited at City Center Art Gallery Yadav said, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has already approached Uttam Pacharne, the Chairman of the institute to set up a study center here in Tripura and he has agreed; in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devbarma and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath as guests.
He also further informed that on 15th December next a festival prompting art and crafts of the North East is going to be organized. As much as 50 artists of the region are slated to take part in this festival. The 10 day tenured festival is also special a sense that the articles, sculptures, paintings and all other creations of the festival are going to be preserved by the state government for further promotion acting on the special request of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, he added.
However, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devbarma who inaugurated the exhibition organized by Sanskar Bharati Tripura state branch portraying extensive collection of 35 artists from various parts of the state also praised the decision of Lalit Kala Academy. He said, art is the heritage of India, the country which has preserved its age long splendor of culture is just because of the richness it procures in the field of art and craft. He also appealed for a developed Art-gallery where works could be preserved.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath during his speech also enlarged his views regarding the preservation of art and culture through such activities. Meanwhile, state secretary of Sanskar Bharati Suman Bhattacharjee and President Subal Biswas also remained present at the function.
