Krishnendu Chodhury has been selected as new secretary of CPI-M at Unakoti District. It has been decided at the District Committee meeting of CPI-M held at Cooperative Hall of Kumarghat today.
Former minister Tapan Chakraborty was present in the meeting as delegate of State Committee. It seems that the District Committee handed over the responsibility to comparatively younger leader during bad time of the party.
Earlier Biswarup Goswami was selected as secretary of Kailashahar Divisional Committee of CPI-M. From both the selections it proved that the party is depending on leadership of younger leaders.
Meanwhile CPI-M party sources said that discussion held all over the day on organizational weakness, attack of ruling party and the recent by-election of Gram Panchayat. The leaders expressed their anxiety as section of party workers and leaders are not participating at party programmes after the defeat of the party in assembly election. The youths got priority at 51 member District Committee.
Krishnendu Choudhury was member of Gournagar Panchayat Samiti during last 15 years. He was involved with Leftist movement since his student life. So the leaders and workers are expecting that District Committee of the party would be more powerful through movement and public relationship.
Earlier former MLA Bijoy Roy was secretary of the District Committee.
It becomes apparent that CPI-M selected leader of Kailashahar as District Secretary while BJP selected MLA of Kumarghat Bhagaban Das as president of Unakoti district.
