Journalist in Tripura shot dead in TSR 2nd battalion camp

In yet another sensational incident a journalist of daily local is being shot dead allegedly by the personal guard of TSR 2nd battalion commandant Nanda Kumar Reang in the camp on Tuesday.

However, after being rushed to the hospital the doctor declared the journalist identified as Sudip Dutta Bhowmik brought dead. The incident took place at Khayerpur Bodhjung nagar TSR 2nd battalion camp.

On being asked about the incident the IG TSR G S Rao said, “There was a scuffling between the journalist and the office desk officials inside the camp and in between the journalist was fired.”

“The police are currently investigating the case,” adding Rao said, “According to the preliminary report he was fired from point blank range resulting him sustained serious injury.”

Besides, the other journalist who went to cover the incident today after Bhowmik was shot dead, the TSR 2nd battalion cops were reported to have restricted their entry to the camp under the direction of their commandant Tapan Debbrma.

However, the incident has triggered a serious panic among the journalist wing today.
