Indo-Bangla border sealed for poll in Tripura

In an aim to ensure free and fair election slated to be held on February 18 here in the state for 60 assembly constituencies, the crucial India-Bangladesh border has been sealed and adequate forces are being deployed in every vulnerable pockets of this state, said The Director General of Police (DGP) A K Shukla here on Friday noon. 

While addressing a press conference today the DGP said, "The Tripura police is committed to ensure free and fair election." Adding to this he informed, "Adequate security arrangements have been brought up in this state to restrict unkind of untoward incidents during the entire election process."

"We have talked to the Mizoram and Assam police of taking out necessary measures in their bordering areas with Tripura and keep a close vigil," DGP said.

He said that to thwart any adverse eventuality, all the borders were guarded round-the-clock specially in the odd hours.

Tripura has 856 km international borders with Bangladesh and 109 km and 53 km inter-state borders with Mizoram and Assam, respectively.

He also informed, "As part of close vigilance in and around the vulnerable spots, CCTV cameras are being installed." He assured of absolutely free and fair election.
