Nor’easter ransacked houses and tea garden area at Kadamtala in the morning of Bengali New Year Day. Sources said that the incident took place at border area of Kadamtala Block in the morning yesterday.
As a result two big trees up rooted which closed main road from Kadamtala to Sarala. The storm caused huge damage at Sarala, Maheshpur, Rajnagar, Tarakpur, Saraspur and many other areas under Kadamtala Block. Two boys and one woman got close shave when a big tree uprooted at Sarala. Many affected persons lost shade of their hut. The cyclonic storm broke out in high speed in the morning at about 8 a.m. at the border area.
On being informed SDM Subrata Kumar Das rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Power connection remained cut off at most of the village under Kadamtala after 25 minutes storm. At the same time huge damage took place at Maheshpur Tea Garden. The guard wall also collapsed by the storm.
Meanwhile BJP leader Tinku Roy rushed to the spot. After supervising the damaged area he assured to provide financial help from the party. He also requested SDM to provide financial help to affected labourers.
