Himanta rules out CPI-M’s ‘forceful’ donation, says party shall complain ECI

AGARTALA:

Expressing concern over the ruling CPI-M’s ‘forceful’ fund collection from the government employees, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state election observer and Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sharma on Wednesday evening said that the party shall lodge complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Sharma was addressing a press conference here at party head quarter on Wednesday evening in presence of BJP state president Biplab Deb and others.

He said, “By adopting the policy of forceful collection of funds from the government employees in the name of election fund, the CPI-M shall get collection of handsome amount, but where shall the money go exactly?”

Meantime speaking over the meeting with the IPFT activists here at Agartala on Wednesday evening, Sharma said, “A formal meeting shall be held at Guwahati on Thursday where Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) shall be signed among the BJP and the IPFT to get seal the electoral alliance in this ensuing assembly election in Tripura.”

Sidelining the issue of IPFT’s demand of separate state or ‘Twipra Land’ Sharma said, “The BJP actually focussed on upgrading the socio-economic structure of the tribal people of the state in Tripura.”
