Himachal Pradesh Cricket association has been started well in their first innings today of the ongoing KSCA invitation cricket tournament. At Alur cricket ground in Bangaluru Himachal Pradesh made 223 for the loss of 2 wickets at the end of day one in reply to 364 which has been made by Tripura.
Priyangshu Khandari and Prasant Chopra demolished the pace attack from Tripura and took Himachal to a solid position. Prasant made a well deserved hundred while Priyangshu made an unbeaten 96. Himachal still 141 runs behind from Tripura as they will look forward to take lead in the first innings.
The pace attack was so much poor that Himachal openers did not make any mercy to them and played some outstanding shots. On the other hand Tripura crossed the 350 mark due to some good batting from the bowlers. Now these bowlers have to bowl well tomorrow to stay well in the match.
On day two today Tripura resumed on their overnight score of 304/6 and lost their next 3 wickets with just 21 runs on the board. Unbeaten centurion Yashpal Singh went out on 119 from 211 balls with 17 fours and 1 six while Sanjay Majumder made 19 and Abhijit Sarkar went out for just 4 runs.
That point of time 350 was very much far for Tripura but for the last wicket Joydip Bhattacharjee (26*) and Dwaipayan Bhattacharjee (23) stood before the attack and added crucial 49 runs from 93 balls. In the end Tripura bundled out for 364 runs from 111.2 overs as it looked like a good total.
Among the Himachal bowlers Pankaj Jayswal picked up 4 wickets while Siddharth Sharma and Akash Bashishth picked up 2 wickets each. In reply Himachal made a cracking start as both the openers Priyangshu Khandari and Prasant Chopra played with lots of freedom and did not allow to bowlers to bowl well.
On the other hand Tripura pace attack without Rana Datta looked very much in front of the openers as they have leaked runs continuously. Among the openers Prasant was very attacking as he brought up his ton when the team’s score was 172. This duo added 183 from just 226 balls for the opening stand.
Prasant Chopra went out after scoring 104 from just 122 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Then Nakul Raja (15) gave good support to Priyangshu as the duo added 36 runs. At the end of day one Himachal made 223 for the loss of 2 wickets. Priyangshu remained unbeaten on 96 from 167 balls with 10 fours and 1 six. Among the Tripura bowlers Dwaipayan Bhattacharjee and Manisankar Murasingh picked up 1 wicket each.
