Former MLA Jhumu Sarkar today stole the lime light when he touched the feet of Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath setting up a memorial gesture. Both the political rivals who represented in the same assembly poking, countering and speaking against each others’ arguments today however continued in similar line of words stressing on the necessity of well-qualified teachers.
Jhumu Sarkar, who has just succeeded to qualify in the Teachers’ Eligibility Test laid emphasis on the need of quality education and tried to convince the gathering of teachers not to compromise with the responsibilities entrusted to them. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath also later appreciated his feelings proffering wishes for his new profession.
Education Minister Nath, who inaugurated the first ever fresher’s welcome ceremony of newly appointed teachers organized by Tripura TET Teachers’ Welfare Association, also praised the arrangement for such an initiative.
Speaking on the issues related to quality education and all round development of students, he said, the first courageous decision that our government has taken is the introduction of NCERT syllabus from the next academic session. Almost all the teachers are set to be trained by 5,000 trainers arriving by the last of this year and all of these things are being packaged just to develop the education of our state.
Speaking on the fake B.Ed holders, he informed that the concerned authorities has lodged FIRs against 16 fake B.Ed holders, 13 such people yielded themselves tendering their unwillingness to take offers and 4 people who were already provided with offer-letters surrendered their letters.
Cautioning the teachers who are hesitant to take posting in remote areas, he said, “Posting is not at all a punishment”, there are teachers who never went out of their comfort zone of Agartala Municipal Corporation since the beginning of their service life but after this academic session the departments are ready to put stress on this issue. He also welcomed the increasing success of women candidates in TET exams every year.
However, among the others, TTDC Chairman Santosh Saha and top brass chair holders of the association also spoke regarding the welfare of education in Tripura.
