Resentment prevailing among flood victims of Kailashahar as a section of the flood affected people have not received minimum financial assistance from the government. SDM Ashim Saha made the branches of Banks responsible for the deprivation of people. Although there was a proposal of providing Rs. 3200 to Rs. 6000 to the affected families according to guideline of NDRF. Sources said that thousands of flood affected families have not received 5 percent of loss incurred by them.
At the same time Chief Minister and ruling party leaders are campaigning that there would be no scarcity of fund.
Information revealed that the administration has failed to provide minimum assistance for rehabilitation of the flood affected people even after three months of devastating flood. Meanwhile Agriculture department collected list of affected farmers, Fishery department collected list of fish cultivators and Animal Resource Department collected list of farmers involved with raring animal. But the affected people have not received minimum financial help in comparison to loss.
Kailashahar is most affected subdivision among 3 to 4 affected subdivisions by flood this year. But the government has not spent at least Rs.10 crore for financial assistance and rehabilitation of people here although Central Government is providing huge assistance for the purpose. It was necessary to provide Rs.10,000 to Rs. 20,000 for mostly affected families as special grant.
In such a situation NDRF is providing Rs. 3200 to the people who incurred loss of Rs.1 lakh or more.
