For the first time Rail Engine touched the soil of Belonia at 6:30 p.m. today within the cheers of thousands of people. The news was circulated among the common people earlier that Rail Engine would touch the soil of the subdivision for the first time as a part of trial run. However Railway department did not deprive the people of the subdivision.
The Railway Engine entered at Belonia Railway Station in the evening at right time within cheers of crowd and it created an environment of joy and emotion among the people of the subdivision.
Manager of N.F. Railway, MLA Arun Chandra Bhowmik, DM of South District Debapriyo Bardhan and SDM of Belonia welcomed the first entry of the Rail Engine by crashing coconut.
Manager of N.F. Railway said, two to three trials will be held in November this year and Passenger Railway service will also begin from November. He further added, train service will reach up to Sabroom in March 2019. Besides, he said that there was a proposal of trial run up to Santirbazar. However, the trial run has been become possible due to shortage of time.
Meanwhile railway track up to Belonia has been completed. So the department had decided to conduct trial run up to Belonia Station and it has been completed successfully.
