First cabinet meeting of BJP-IPFT govt. in Tripura allocates portfolio for its ministers

AGARTALA:

The first 9 members’ cabinet meeting of the government formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in alliance with the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) lead by Biplab Kumar Deb as the Chief Minister and Jishnu Debbarma as his deputy has on Saturday allocated the portfolios for its ministers.

According to the notification issued by the state government today noon, the chief minister Shri Biplab Kumar Deb has allocated with the portfolios of Home, PWD (excluding department of water resource), Industries and commerce (excluding IT), Urban Development Department (UDD), General Administration, Labour, Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA), All Policies and other departments which are not allocated to any minister. 

Jishnu Debbarma has taken the charge of Deputy Chief Minister and allocated with additional charge of Power, RD (including Panchayat), Finance, Planning and Co-ordination including statistics. 

Narendra Chandra Debbarma has retained the charge of Revenue and Fisheries and Mevar Kumar Jamatia has taken the charge of Minister for Tribal Welfare Department and Forest. Besides, Santana Chakma, the youngest minister in the cabinet has taken the charge of Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Animal Resource Development. Significantly, young Santana Chakma is the first ever minister in Tripura from the Chakma tribal community.

Ratan Lal Nath as Education (Higher and School), Law (including parliamentary affairs).
Sudip Roy Barman has taken the charge of Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Science, Technology and Environment, Industry and Commerce (IT), PWD (DWS). Pranjit Singha Roy as a Minister for Agriculture, Transport and Tourism. 

Manoj Kanti Deb as a minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs.

Official sources said that three more cabinet ministers will be appointed soon after consultation between the BJP and IPFT leadership to ensure proper representation of districts, subdivisions and communities.
