Elephant kills labourer at Killa

UDAIPUR:

One elephant trampled one middle aged person who supplied food for the animal all over the day at Champraibari village. The name of the ill fated labourer is Sib Bahadur Jamatia (40). The incident happened in the evening today which created panic among local people at Killa.

Sources said that the elephant was brought by its owner from Maharani for pulling log at Champrai village. The Mahut of the elephant went to his house after tying the elephant with a tree. Shib Bahadur supplied food for the elephant by cutting banana trees all over the day. Later the elephant pulled him with trump when he was going back home after having tea from tea stall in the evening at about 5 p.m. 

Immediately the animal tramples his body and killed him. But nobody dared to go to the unruly elephant. On being informed OC of Killa Police Station Biswajit Debbarma rushed to the spot. Observing the incident he informed Forest Officer Pallab Chakraborty. Arriving there the Forest Officer called on owner of the elephant.

Recovering body of Shib Bahadur Jamatia has not been possible till the last information came in. Shib Bahadur survived by his wife, two daughters and one son.
