Both the saffron labor organizations, Sramik Unnyan Mancha and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha today came down heavily on the state government’s decision of striking ban on the E-Rickshaws from plying in the city crossroads.
Reportedly, the transport department has barred the eco-friendly vehicles to take part in the mainstream traffic of the city including subdivisions like Teliamura and Khowai.
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha in one side organized a mass rally in the city demanding their rights back to carry out passengers in all possible roads along with registrations and other vital certification from the concerned department. The organization also called a lay-up in services for eight long hours beginning from 6 am in the morning.
On the other hand, Sramik Unnyan Mancha, an opposing counterpart of BMS called for a meeting with the department and the concerned ministry to tackle the down the wrath triggered among the E-Rickshaw pullers.
While speaking to the newsman, General Secretary of E-Rickshaw Sramik Sangha Manoranjan Das said, we have no intention to hurt the normalcy of life. There not less than 2 thousand people associated with this profession and if such an imposition came into action lives of 2 thousand families will be ruined.
While asked about their alternative roads which will be open for them, he replied, Agartala is not at all a city that has a huge suburb area that could easily match with our daily passenger excise. Moreover, there are also many competitors like Auto Rickshaws and Town Buses which are more preferable.
Meanwhile, Sramik Unnayan Mancha strictly condemned the stand of BMS of calling a strike. Convening a press conference at Agartala Press Club, leaders of Sramik Unnyan Mancha accused the BMS of being against the interest of proletarians. Leader of the organization Biplab Kar assured that they will take the issue to the higher authorities but will never try to impose autocratic calls like BMS.
