Dhanban Reang Para, a miniscule village with a very negligible population of hundred families is all the way struggling to get its right pace of exposure. The territory mostly inhabited with indigenous communities is still struggling to acquire the adequate supply of basic necessities—drinking water, health and education.
The village which is named after of Dhanaban (Wealthy) Reang, the renowned landlord who once settled down here with his people along in the edgy areas of Baghmara under Ambassa subdivision had already lost all the traces of wealth, he(Dhanaban) spent for the early days of settlements.
The village has a senior basic school too having no minimum infrastructure to attract students. Head Master of the School Naisinglu Halam said, the people are not interested with the studies of their children. The lack of sources in the field of income has led people to indulge in Jhum cultivation, gathering and fishing. And when the parents go out for work the children keep watch on the household activities, he added.
While asked about the student’s strength, he informed, the village has good number of children but they are not inquisitive towards schooling. Only 28 students are enrolled but the rolls are being heard as “present” once in a blue moon, added the headmaster.
The teacher’s strength is also not very attractive. Altogether, 6 teachers are there in total wherefrom two of them are reappointed as ad-hoc teachers and rest of the others are contractual, informed the other faculty members.
The other major problems of the village counts a huge list including scarcity of safe drinking water, crisis of sources in terms of livelihood generation, huge fall in the man-days under MGNREGA scheme and many more. But the way of solution is still to be tracked down by the villagers.
