A delegation of TTAADC met with High level committee of Union Home Ministry today. Chief Executive Member of ADC Radhacharan Debbarma handed over memorandum to the committee with different demands and proposals.
The demands are to provide more power to ADC, to amend Section 73 -74 of the Constitution. Executive Member of Education Rajendra Reang, Executive Member of Fishery Santanu Jamatia, Executive Member of Industry Paresh Chandra Sarkar were among the members of the delegation.
Giving this information CEM Redhacharan Debbarma said, the rights of tribal people on economy, language, education, health and different issues of ADC highlighted in the memorandum.
He further added, demand of including Kokborok language at 8th Schedule of Constitution, broadcasting of Akashbani and Door Darshan by other tribal languages, economic development of hardcore jumias and patta holders under Right to Forest act were included in the memorandum.
Besides, ADC proposed to constitute cooperative for marketing of forest products including bamboo, honey, pineapple, rubber and different products.
Moreover ADC proposed to provide loan to tribal youths Rs 10 lakh who are interested to set up rubber and bamboo based industries.
He also proposed to modernize Folk Music College to develop culture of tribal community, to allot more stipends to extend education among tribal students, to build up one school at each block under ADC area. He also stressed on building Engineering College, ITI in ADC area. He further proposed to set up 500 bedded hospital to provide nutritious food for mother and children in ADC area.
