The opposition Communist Party of India and Marxist (CPI-M) in Tripura on Thursday took on the ruling BJP party in the state and alleged of series of vote riggings during April 11 poll for West Tripura parliamentary constituency. Addressing a press conference today morning the CPI-M state secretary Goutam Das felt, "Defer of the East Tripura Lok Sabha poll is simply a discredit to the BJP government in the state and centre."
"Despite they call tag themselves 'Chowkidar' right from the Prime Minister to his lower formations, they have been damaging the image of genuine Chowkidars in the nation by rigging votes and turning this election into farce."
Meantime, Mr. Das said, "Now CPI-M has raised the number of polling booths from 464 to 774 booths where re-poll is required and submitted necessary evidences of mass rigging before the ECI." He said, "The April 11 polls largely rigged, democratic rights of people were subverted, now people in general are in apprehension that ruling may conduct such kind of rigging, if ECI do not take any appropriate step to protect the democracy."
He however, demanded the election commission to ensure full-proof security during the April 23 polling for East Tripura Parliamentary constituency.
