Deepavali, Kali Puja celebrated peacefully across the state

Deepavali, along with Kali Puja, was celebrated in Tripura peacefully with pomp and religious fervour, despite intermittent rains. Kali Puja which also coincides with the festival of Diwali in Bengali dominated areas is one of the grand festival after Durga Puja.

Both the festivals were being observed together, making the entire occasion a gala event on Thursday last.

On the occasion of Deepavali, the festival of lights, the city wore a brighter look with illumination everywhere, including on all vital installations, attracting people of all ages.

Braving the intermittent rains, people came out on the streets in the evening and were seen enjoying fireworks as well the orchestra performance organized by several clubs.

However, bursting of crackers was main attraction on the occasion of Diwali at AD Nagar Police ground.

A large number of devotees visited the Udaipur Tripureshwari temples along with other temples like Anandamoyi kali bari, Indranagar Kali bari and many more in and around the city to offer prayers to the goddess on the auspicious day.

At the Udaipur Tripureshwari temple the devotees had to stand in long queues to offer puja.

However, Thousands of devotees thronged at Indranagar kali bari temple on Friday to perform Kumari Puja.  It is to be mentioned here that Indranagar Kali temple along with Joy Ma Kali Santander Sangha observed kumari puja. Sushmita Chowdhury, 8 years girl, was worshipped on the occasion of Kumari puja at Indranagar Kali temple.
