Death of Sukanta, a tragic incident

Sukanta Chakarborty, a youth of 35 years became victim of planned conspiracy. The shocking and painful incident happened in front of hundreds of people at Telacherra Bazar yesterday. He had been murdered brutally by beating continuously by lifting him from the publicity vehicle of administration. A poll of mourn shaded entire Sabroom subdivision observing the scene of the death of innocent Tabla player.

Sukanta was engaged in campaigning against rumor on behalf of administrative authority of the subdivision. The publicity car started campaigning since 11 a.m. yesterday. After campaigning different parts of Sabroom the vehicle reached to Kalacherra at 3 p.m. and started publicity against rumor at Kalacherra Bazar. Driver Jiban Das, employee of ICA Apu Dey and Sukanta Chakraborty were in the publicity vehicle. Sukanta was engaged in campaigning by microphone although he was a tabla teacher. He was engaged in the job in exchange of Rs.200.

Meanwhile Apu Dey went to Kalacherra Bazar for marketing. At that time some people engaged in altercation with Sukanta. Later they attacked him.

At the same time they started beating the driver. They went on beating Sukanta with lathi and bricks. At a time he fled to the house of Jyotsna Chakraborty to save himself. Immediately about 300 people entered the house and dragged him out. Then he was murdered by hitting him laying in the drain.

One eye witness Nilami Chakraborty, Prabha Roy and Jyotsna Chakraborty said that they could not save Sukanta after trying hard to save his life. At the same time question raised with role of police and TSR. Why did the two lathi holder TSR led by SI Amrit Debbarma did not sought help of more police while the incident continued for 45 minutes.

Meanwhile additional CRPF and TSR engaged at Kalacherra. MLA Sankar Roy visited Sabroom today. SP of South Jal Singh Meena is staying at Kalacherra since last night.

The body of Sukanta Chakraborty brought to Sabroom after post mortem today. The body was brought to BJP office. After paying tribute the body was brought to Surchanda Nritya Sanstha and Samsanbandhu Club. Later the body was taken to his house. From there his body was taken to crematorium ground. Sukanta’s son Shibam is five years old and his wife Tanushri is a good singer. MLA Sankar Roy, former Nagar Panchayat Chairman Santipriya Bhowmik and others expressed deep mourn on his death and sympathy to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile police arrested four persons including Rabidhan Tripura (40), Birenmohan Tripura (45), Ashik Das and Krishna Tripura in connection with the murder.
