In an anti- ganja raid a delegation of Customs department destroyed ganja plants worth of Rs 2 lakh at Khowai subdivision today.
Sources said that a delegation of Customs department conducted an operation to destroy ganja plants at five places including Chakmaghat, Jumbari and Laxmipur under Teliamura subdivision. At least 1500 ganja plants destroyed today.
Assistant Commissioner of Customs department from Khowai district Keshab Sinha, Customs Officer of Teliamura Ruma Rudra Pal, DCM Anupam Das, SI of the department Florence Chakma, SI of Teliamura Police Station Suman Ullas and Umacharan Debbarma were among the delegation.
The Assistant Commissioner of Customs department said, the raid conducted on the basis of secret information. Similar operations will be conducted in future to make people free from addiction and to stop the business of ganja traders.
