CPI-M opposes BJP's strike on Nov 23 over journalist killing

AGARTALA:

The CPI-M on Tuesday taking its stand on journalist killing in TSR camp has opposed the 12 hours strike on November 23 called by the BJP after the incident took place on Tuesday. The CPI-M claimed, "By calling a strike the BJP is trying to create yet another unrest in the state in wake of the poll and is making the water dirty."

Briefing the party's stand on journalist killing in a press conference on Tuesday, the CPI-M leader and spokes person Goutam Das said, "The BJP's demand for CM's resignation is simply baseless." He said, "When the top police officials are already directed for fastest investigation of the brutal killing and police doing so, than why the Chief Minister will resign?"

"We condemn such killing of journalist in this state," adding Das said that the accused personal guard has been arrested and hoped that the case would be cracked soon.

However, the BJP has called for a strike on Thursday to show protest against the brutal killing of senior journalist Sudip Dutta Bhowmik.

Bhowmik was shot dead inside the camp of TSR 2nd battalion on Tuesday noon in presence of commandant Tapan Debbarma. The incident took place after the personal guard of commandant identified as Nanda Gopal Reang shot him from point blank range.
