CPI-M in Tripura seeks legal action against sports minister after ‘indecent’ video of PM Modi event goes viral: BJP says ‘Video doctored’

Just after a video clip of Tripura sports minister Manoj Kanti Deb touching social welfare minister Shantana Chakma ‘inappropriately’ on Saturday at the event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated slew of projects went viral on Sunday, the opposition CPI-M women wing on Monday marched on a protest rally here at Agartala seeking legal action against Mr. Deb.

Marching on a rally today the Student Federation of India (SFI) state president Nilanjana Roy alleged, “The ‘indecent’ deed of the sports minister of this state probes that the women across the state are unsafe under the rule Biplab Deb government.”

“We want answer from the Biplab Deb government over the indecent deed of sports minister,” adding to this Roy threatened to go for massive protest unless legal action is taken against sports minister Manoj Deb.

Meantime, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in response to the viral video of Tripura sports minister Manoj Kanti Deb termed this to be ‘doctored’. The state unit of BJP has said that the video is manipulated to launch a ‘malicious campaign’ by the opposition.

The BJP was in opinion that the ‘doctored’ video has huge difference from the actual footage of PM Modi event at Swami Vivekananda ground. The in charge of the media cell of BJP’s Tripura unit, Victor Shome clarified this saying that the original video showed Deb was on a corner of the stage. While trying to come forward when the PM was about to inaugurate the projects, it happened inadvertently, he said.
