Cooch Behar Trophy Under 19 Cricket: Unbeaten 114 by Arup Datta led Tripura to victory against J&K

After the Under 23 cricket team, now it’s turn for Under 19 cricket team of Tripura to make some kind of statements to the senior cricket team about how they can play with cool minded outside from the state. When Tripura Ranji team failed matches after matches, Tripura Under 23 and Under 19 team respectively made the whole state proud in the field of cricket. In their opening match Tripura under 19 team defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 6 wickets. Chasing 227 runs to win Tripura achieved the target with ease.

The main architect behind this win is star opener from Belonia, Arup Datta who scored an unbeaten knock of 114 to lead Tripura to a famous victory. He also scored 52 runs in the first innings. Looking at the target earlier it looked like Tripura will perish on the last day but some good supporting roles from Sankar Paul, Dipayan Debbarma and Riaz Uddin lead them to the victory. With this famous win in their opening match Tripura got 6 points. Tripura will play their second match against Hyderabad at Hyderabad from Nov 12-15.

Today from the whole 90 overs Tripura was needed 227 runs to win as this was a stiff target to achieve on the last day. Tripura made a horrible start as they lost Tanmoy Das (0) in the very first over. But Arup Datta continued his form from the first innings and started to play attacking cricket from the very first ball. He got full support from Captain Sankar Paul as the duo added 102 runs for the second wicket from just 127 balls. In the mean time Arup Datta completed his half century from just 64 balls as he looked very much confident.

Sankar paul went out after scoring a well accomplished 33 from 55 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. Dipayan Debbarma then joined with Arup and added 53 runs for the second wicket. Dipayan scored 31 from 39 balls with 5 fours. Riaz Uddin then gave support to Arup and added another crucial 44 runs. Riaz Uddin made 27. Arup Datta in the end brought up his match winning ton and remained unbeaten on 114 from 147 balls with 23 fours. Bikram Dey remained unbeaten on 4. Tripura achieved the target in just 46.4 overs losing 4 wickets.
