Congress demands Law Minister’s resignation

AGARTALA:

In what appears to be a counter step, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee today demanded resignation of Law minister of the state along with strict actions against the Under Secretary of the home department.

In a letter addressing the election commission of India, TPCC vice-president Tapas Dey expressed his suspicion as to how the ruling party of the state streamed a video footage captured on the CCTV of a police station, and resented over the issue.

In the letter, the Congress party also highlighted the issue of law and order failure and claimed it is a sheer failure of the law and order situation of the state.

“We demand the honourable Home Minister to take moral responsibility of this law and order failure and resign from his post”, the letter reads.

The party also alleged in its complaint that the OSD of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb violating the election code of conduct seen to be participating in election rally.

In their letter, the party also sought to know the reason behind inaction of the police department against BJP MLA Ram Prasad Pal who claimed to have obstructed the police officials during their duties.

Meanwhile, deployment of proper CPMF in all the 1,645 sensitive polling stations of East Tripura parliamentary constituency also remained one of the crucial points of their letter.
