Common Wealth Chess: Arshia starts with win

AGARTALA:

Playing for the Indian National Team, Young chess player from Tripura Arshia Das started with a winning note today in the ongoing Common Wealth chess tournament started from today at New Delhi.

Total 5 players from Tripura are playing for the Indian team in the tournament. In the first round of under 8 section today Arshia Das started to play with white pawn and with 45 moves, she defeated Bishnu Priya Purushottom of Malaysia.

This win will definitely boost the confidence level of this little Arshia who is a student of 1st standard at Holy Cross School. On the other hand in under 14 section Aranika Ghosh of Tripura played a draw with Jiah Shah in 50 moves. But the rest of the chess players lost their respective matches today.

Soham Nag in under 10 section, Subhranil Majumder in under 12 section and Parthajit Saha in under 16 section lost their respective matches in the first round.
