Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today preside a review meeting on the development of rubber cultivation in the state. During the meeting he had given a number of directives to boast the income of rubber cultivators.
From the collection of latex to processing centers, there should be professional excellence otherwise the quality of the ultimate by-product could not be maintained. And there should be an official approach to encourage people coming in this field, said the Chief Minister while directing the gathering of higher officials.
The state has 84,480 hectare of land used in cultivation of rubber in which 54,441 hectare is matured in terms of soil texture for such cultivation. The yearly production is also a little over 65,000 metric ton which contributes 9% of the entire country’s production, briefed the officials to Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the series of projects that were opted during the meeting included, 750 micro cluster processing centers within three years, training of 10,000 people through PMKVY to have skilled hands, 12,000 smoke houses in the time bound period of three years, 6,000 hectare cultivation through MGNREGA to bridge the gap areas and setting of 150 processing centers with 50 in each year basis.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Tripura Industries Development Corporation, Tinku Roy, Chief Secretary LK Gupta, PCCF Alind Rastogi and directors of relatable departments also attended the meeting.
