Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb greeted the officers of all departments for conducting the Diwali Mela in a peaceful and disciplined manner. He conveyed congratulations to the officials through Tourism minister Pranajit Sinha Roy at a meeting of DM with officers of all departments in Gomati district held at conference hall of DM office today.
Speaking at the meeting Tourism minister said,” according to calculation of administration about 4 lakh 25 thousand people attended in the fair on November 6 and 7.
Referring the Diwali Mela is largest fair in North Easter Region Tourism minister said, “special attractions like blessings of Maa Tripureswari in packets and Kalyan Arati by 51 priests at Kalyan Sagar attracted more devotees and tourists this year.”
He also greeted Railway department on behalf of State Government for providing service by seven pairs of train during days of fair while the state government demanded two pairs of train. Besides, he thanked jawans of Assam Rifles, CRPF and BSF for providing food to thousands of devotees in cheap rate. There is no report of untoward incident during last two days fair.
Meanwhile, one woman Basana Das (45) died at the fair premises due to cardiac arrest who came to visit the fair with her daughter by train from Aralia in Agartala. Except this unfortunate incident the fair was peaceful.
At the same time the authority of Matabari Trust Committee is thinking about increasing area of Diwali fair due to increase in pressure of large number of devotees at the fair. Besides the sellers benefited by huge sell in the fair. Altogether 18 departments opened stall in the fair.
Meanwhile large number of devotees visited the fair today after the end of two days fair.
