Day after the doctor of Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital was dragged and thrashed by a section of aggressive relatives of deceased patient who died in the hospital with labour pain, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday issued a stern warning on such attack on doctors. He said, “Government shall not tolerate such brutal attack on doctors across the state.”
Mr. Deb was addressing a press conference at his government residence today. “Police check-posts shall be installed in GBP and IGM hospital to restrict any such incidents where doctors had to face brutal attack.” He continued saying, “Nobody shall take law in their hands.”
“Specific case has been registered against the accused persons in doctor drag and thrash case. Accordingly five persons were arrested,” adding the Chief Minister said, “The advocate general and the DGP was asked to take stern action against the accused persons.”
Earlier after the incident was reported the state health minister Sudip Roy Barman expressed concern over the incident and assured of taking necessary action against the accused persons.
