Coming up stern enough on the complaints over vote capturing across the state during the first phase of West Tripura Parliamentary Lok Sabha Poll, the state Chief Electoral Officer S Taranikant on Saturday said, "The election commission has received series of reports from different polling booths which are to make dossier and then the Director General of Police is urged upon to take legal action on this."
The CEO on Saturday concerned over the complaints of vote riggings and also expressed, "Once the Tripura set an example of good polling atmosphere with 2018 assembly election and owned a good name and fame which is perhaps ruined by this first phase of Lok Sabha Poll."
The CEO while addressing the press conference on Saturday admits of vote capture like incidents took place in different polling booths. Citing an example of one such vote capture at Rahimpur Boxanagar of West Tripura district the CEO today said "Some miscreants had entered the polling booth and cast their own vote restricting others from voting." The CEO however said that, "I have recommended for re-polling at the concerned polling booth."
Meantime, as the state is heading for its second phase polling for East Tripura parliamentary constituency, the Chief Electoral Officer S Taranikant on Saturday warned of stern action against any iniquity inside the polling booths or outside. The CEO urged upon the voters to stay away from such iniquity and cast their vote. The CEO said one must immediately make use of election Commission C-Vigil app and file complaints with photographs of such iniquity.
The Chief Electoral officer today also warned the concerned presiding officers and others inside the polling booths of stern enquiry against them unless they are free to share reports with the election commission of any iniquity.
