If everything falls in right place, a Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) centre will soon be set up in Agartala.
As part of his Tripura visit, Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highway, Shipping, Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh L. Mandaviya today called on Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and had discussion about the issues related to allotment of land for introducing a CIPET centre in Agartala.
"The state government has agreed to provide 10 acre land to Centre for introducing the proposed Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) centre.
The CIPET centre will impart training to the youths of state and generate employment to a great extent.
The trained youths will have a plenty of opportunities to join various plastic industries across the country," the union minister said at a press conference at Sonartori State Guest House.
In the courtesy meeting with Chief Minister, he said, several issues related to the implementation of national flagship scheme- Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadi Pariyojana (PMBJP) were also discussed.
"The Centre is keen to popularize generic medicines with a view to provide quality medicines at affordable price to all sections of the society," he said.
According to the union minister, the business in different generic medicine stores has increased substantially in the state and the 19 generic drug stores functioning at different government hospitals under 'Jan Aushadi' scheme are unable to meet the increasing demand.
Keeping this view in mind, he said, "More twenty generic medicine stores will be set up at different parts of the state soon."
He also stressed on timely supply of drug items and awareness among the people regarding effectiveness and affordability of generic medicines.
