The agitating DRW, DRD and casual workers of Agartala Government Medical College continued gherao at the chamber of Principal of AGMC Dr. K.K. Kundu all over the night yesterday. At last Principal Dr. Kundu released from gherao in the morning today on the basis of assurance to organize meeting with Health minister Badal Choudhury in the morning tomorrow. Although, they released Superintendent Dr. Baidya in last night.
The agitator staffs demanded regularization of all irregular workers and to provide Rs. 5 Lakh to all staffs who were retired from their works in the meantime. Besides, they demanded regular offer from the very date when they joined in the work.
On the demand they started stay in strike and hunger strike at the same time since morning yesterday and gheraoed Principal of AGMC and Superintendent of G.B. Hospital since 11 a.m. yesterday
Talking to media the a representative of agitating staffs said that a five member delegation will meet with Health minister Badal Choudhury others will continue Dharna and hunger strike. They also threatened that all 375 staffs will join in the Dharna and hunger strike if the Health minister fails to fulfill their demands. They will also organize blockade at gate of Emergency Block and continue Dharna and Hunger strike there.
Meanwhile six agitators fall ill and admitted to G.B. Hospital. Among them Mita Debnath and Shefali Das are cancer patient. They joined in the agitation avoiding their illness. Although they became ill again. Besides, Purnima Das and three others admitted to G.B. Hospital due to illness.
State BJP president Biplab Das met with the agitators in the evening today. He assured to take action after the meeting with Health minister.
