After withdrawal of candidates by CPI-M and Congress from by-poll of Udaipur Municipal Council speculation is going on who would become the chairperson of UMC. One section is anticipating that youth leader Anupam Choudhury could become Chairperson while another section is speculating that former teacher Shital Majumder could be nominated for the same post.
Meanwhile, CPI-M has withdrawn all of their candidates from 13 seats and Congress withdrawn 11 candidates from the fray of by-poll under pressure. But Congress candidate has not withdrawn nomination from ward no 1 and 13 in spite of acute pressure. As a result election will be held at ward no 1 and 13.
Meanwhile BJP candidates won uncontested from ward no 2 to 12 and from ward no 14 to 21.
Sources said that BJP workers are moving door to door with development issue of Udaipur after winning by- election.
At the same time Congress candidate Bishnu Choudhury is contesting alone at ward no 1 and 13. Meanwhile police patrolling is going on at his house of Congress candidate.
