The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders accompanied by the state vice-president Subal Bhowmik targeting the ruling CPI-M party has sought the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)’s intervention on Thursday over free and fair election. The BJP accused, “The CPI-M is engaged in manipulating the entire election process since a decade.”
The BJP accused, “The employees of the state government of Tripura are so polarized that the Election Commission has a local system where the opposing political parties are asked to submit the names of their choice, and through randomization Polling Officers and Presiding Officers are selected.”
“There are employees who are posted in the same department for decades and are involved in the election related work defying the guidelines of the Election Commission,” adding the BJP accused, “The ruling party has created a vested interest group in this regard and strong action by the CEO is essential in the interest of free and fair election.”
In its letter to the CEO the BJP claimed, “The Electoral Rolls in Tripura are highly manipulated. The BLO, the ERO and other office staff are selected specifically for this job. They are loyal ruling party supporters.”
