BJP announced list of candidates for 21 seats of Udaipur Municipal Council today for ensuing by-poll of Municipal Council. The candidates will submit nomination on December 4.
Out of 21 wards 10 candidates are women. It could be recalled that all wards except ward no 6, 7 and 8 were occupied by Left Front candidates. The Left Front candidates were resigned due to some unavoidable circumstances. Besides, Chairman of UMC resigned from ward no 9. Ward no 6, 7, 8 were occupied by Congress.
Meanwhile BJP candidates for Melaghar Municipal Council submitted their nomination today. Election will be held for all 13 seats of MMC. All 13 candidates submitted their nomination to Additional SDM Abhijit Bhattacharjee. State General Secretary of BJP Pratima Bhowmik, Baharul Islam, president of Sipahijala South Ratan Das, present and former Mandal president Biswajit Das and Harekrishna Das and many others were present at SDM office during submission of nomination.
Our correspondent from Khowai added that candidates of BJP submitted nomination for all seats of Khowai Municipal Council today. Altogether 15 candidates submitted their resignation for 15 seats of KMC. The decision of submission was taken after announcement of candidates list today. At last they submitted nomination within 3 p.m.
At the same time no opposition candidate submitted resignation today. It is expected that Congress and Amra Bangali will submit their nomination while sources said that CPI-M will not participate in the by-poll. The last date of submission of nomination is December 4.
Our correspondent added from Kailashahar that BJP candidates led by MLA Bhagaban Das submitted their nomination for 6 seats of Kailashahar Municipal Council today. The candidates assembled at premises of Returning Officer’s office with band party. Then the leaders went to RO’s chamber with candidates and submitted nomination one by one. Out of 15 seats CPI-M candidates occupied 7 and BJP occupied 2 seats earlier. BJP will occupy council if the candidates win in 6 seats of KMC. But BJP will fail to occupy KMC if CPI-M wins at least one seat.
State secretary of BJP Nitish Dey, General Secretary of District Committee Arun Saha, Mandal president Hemanta Kumar Dey were present during submission of nomination.
