A woman, a mother, who never dwelt a life of bliss, but still has the wish to give her five year old child a well furnished future today handed over him to the Child lines through a tearful adieu, unexplainable in words.
One Rama Das, forced to live in the silly aisle between the road and the footpath in front of IGM hospital out of fate, passed responsibility of her only child, Ripan Das (5) to the Child-lines run special home but could not restrain her moan, came out owing to the pain of separation.
The five year old Ripan Das unknown of anything bade good-bye to her mother and officially sent to “Anwesha Child home”. The bereaved Rama informed, there was no way left for her to nurture her dearest otherwise this as no possible means to grow him in a better way.
Rama who used to live in the ancestral home of her husband’s sister had already posed a no entry board for her and her child. Her husband who hardly took any responsibility of being so has also said no to their relation. The ill-fated Rama lastly made her place among the itinerants residing in the footpath in front of IGM hospital. Another, Diptanu Sharma (5.4 years) from there was also rescued.
However, The team led by TCPCR (Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights) chairperson Nilima Ghosh and Child Line member Sutapa Roy also tried persuade a number of parents living there to hand over their children to Child Line authority which could give them a better equipped future.
While speaking to the newspersons, Ms. Nilima Ghosh informed, there is a disturbed trend prevailing all over, some people are not at all ready to hand over their children as their children are working from them as sole bread-winner. While asked about the future operations, she replied that such rescue and persuasion operations will continue until all the street children of the state could get what they really deserve.
