Anganwadi Centre of Ganganagar village and houses of 5 families remained water logged due to injudicious digging of pond by the Panchayat at Kamalpur subdivision. Even the officials under CDPO failed to solve the problem. As a result many children of the area are suffering from water born disease.
Ganganagar is a minority dominated village under Baligaon Panchayat. The village of the border area is lacking behind in terms of education, health, drinking water and communication by road. Local panchayat excavated a pond in April this year under MNREGA project.
As a result water out let way of the village was closed and the only anganwadi centre of the village and some houses became water logged. Now the centre looks like an island. As a result small children and pregnant women cannot reach there and they are deprived of nutritious food.
Local people alleged that the area is contaminated by polluted water. Teacher of the anganwadi centre Tamija Bibi said that it was impossible to continue the center so she closed the centre. She alleged that she failed get any result after taking the matter to CDPO and Panchayat.
Sources said that Rs.85000 allotted for the road from PWD Road to Anganwadi centre in 2010-11 financial year. At present there is no trace of the allotment. Besides, local people alleged that Rs.25000 allotted for repair of anganwadi has not been properly utilized.
