The ongoing construction works of proposed Maitri Bridge on Feni River is proceeding on Feni river at Sabroom subdivision.
Sources said that the construction of 1500 meter approach road from Feni river to Sabroom Forest office will start from Monday next. Meanwhile compensation provided to 52 shifted families for construction of Approach Road at Doulbari and Sabroom Mouja.
In the meantime an important meeting called at SDM Office of Sabroom today for speedy completion of Feni Bridge. MLA Rita Kar Majumder presided over the meeting.
Among others Chairperson of Sabroom Nagar Panchayat Ruma Majumder Basak, ADM Uttam Mandal, DGM of National Highway Pradip Bhunia, Project Manager of bridge construction agency Agarwal Construction Jayanta Kumar Deb, ADM Biplab Das and different officers were present in the meeting. The issues of complain on land acquisition and compensation discussed in the meeting. Later the officers visited the approach road area.
Meanwhile members of 11 families alleged that they got compensation in different rates for single plot. The owner of the land Samir Chakraborty said that they got Rs.50 lakh per Kani as compensation on October 11. But the amount reduced to Rs 25 lakh with another notice on October 31. He received Rs. 4.14 lakh for .022 Acre land. Again Rs 6.33 lakh provided as compensation of 0.022 acre land in the notice issued later on. So the affected families raised allegation on corruption with compensation. They are going get the justice through legal way. Although, ADM Uttam Mandal assured to provide more 30 percent compensation to the affected families.
